A comprehensive refurbishment and repositioning of an established, purpose-built 130-place early learning centre, leased long-term to Mirambeena Children's Centre Association (Toowoomba) Inc.
Ultra Urban is delivering a childcare centre development at 855 Ruthven Street, Kearneys Spring. The project takes an established, purpose-built childcare centre — licensed for 130 places and operating on the site since the 1990s — through a comprehensive rectification and refurbishment programme, repositioning it as a premium early learning asset.
The revised building provides dedicated activity rooms, a commercial-grade kitchen and preparation area, children's amenities, staff and administration space, and secured outdoor play areas linked to the internal rooms.
Working with an existing structure required the project team to resolve framing, structural and services details as the building was opened up, with the certifier, designer and builder coordinating those items alongside construction.
Works commenced in late May 2026 with demolition and internal strip-out, followed by framing for the revised rooms, stores, corridors, staff lounge, office and multipurpose space.
Services rough-in followed through June. July moved the project into wall and ceiling finishes, painting, landscaping, fencing and the feature entry wall.
August has focused on flooring, joinery, plumbing and electrical fit-off, tiling, sanitary fixtures, doors, hardware and the new fencing to the frontage and play areas.
As at the August progress claim, base contract works were approximately 97 per cent complete by claimed value. Remaining work comprised final electrical, glazing, painting, line marking, landscaping, security, cleaning and close-out items.
Highmark Group is the builder. Mirambeena Children's Centre Association (Toowoomba) Inc. is the secured operator under a 15-year term to 2041, with options.
